Crossing Safety & Jaywalking

Crossing Safety

Crossing Guards are posted at the corners to cross the children safely. It is their responsibility to see that the children cross the street safely. They do not direct traffic. If there is a traffic signal on the corner, all traffic is to obey the traffic signal. Children in the crosswalks have the right of way. Turning cars must yield to pedestrians. If there is no traffic signal, the Crossing Guard will stop traffic to allow children to cross safely.

Jaywalking

Please instruct your children to cross the street only at corners. We have had several “near misses’ when children run into the street from between parked cars. Chilcren will do what they see us do…it is expected that all adults will follow this rule also.
