DOE: Raising the Bar

The Common Core standards provide us with a powerful opportunity to develop students’ critical thinking skills and push them to become life-long learners.

Raising the Bar is a road map for student success in New York City public schools. It was written for YOU, to describe our plans for getting students ready for college and careers.

The Department is raising expectations for teaching and learning. We are creating new schools designed for student success and working hard to improve existing schools, and we ALL have a role to play in boosting student achievement.

College and careers is the goal, and working together—students, parents, families, teachers, and schools—we can get there.

So please, read Raising the Bar. Find out how you can be our partner in writing more student success stories.
